A battle royale mode hasn't been revealed for
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare yet, but it maybe coming.
A new report from reliabled Call of Duty leaker LongSensation claims Infinity Ward will launch battle royale for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as a free-to-play mode in "early 2020." He adds that it will be released as a separate game, but will also be connected to the core game.
Battle royale was first introduced in last year's
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. The mode, called Blackout, was part of the game's core gameplay experience as
Black Ops 4 ditched a traditional single-player campaign in favor of the multiplayer mode. Blackout combined various elements from the
Black Ops sub-series into one map where 100 players battle it out for supremacy. The mode was met with enthusiasm from the
Call of Duty community, but there were questions surrounding its longevity since
Call of Duty is an annual franchise. It seems Blackout will still exist in
Black Ops 4, but now fans will have another option to choose from.
Keep in mind, Activision has yet to formally announce anything regarding battle royale for
Modern Warfare, so this should be treated as nothing more than a rumor. But LongSensation does have a reputable track record, having broke the news that this year's game was actually going to be
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and a soft reboot. LongSensation also
reported that next year's Call of Duty game will be a reboot of the Black Ops series.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is slated to release on October 25 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
