Far Cry 3 released all the way back in 2012 and was arguably the peak for the open-world first-person shooter franchise — though subsequent instalments were certainly not half bad. The third instalment was preceded by a bunch of live-action trailers/skits featuring Christopher Mintz-Plasse as himself and Michael Mando as the villainous Vaas.

Of course, Mando would also serve as the voice of the character within the game itself. Vaas was one of the game's big-bads and certainly became an iconic one, at that. In the end, Vaas would seemingly die near the end of the game. The player, in a dreamy state, would confront several visions of the villain before eventually confronting and killing the real Vaas.

Perhaps it's wishful thinking on account of the villain's popularity but; many speculated that Vaas may not have actually been killed but rather the player simply put an end to another hallucination. Far Cry 3 lead writer Jeffrey Yohalem once commented on the speculation, cryptically saying that the characters believe him to be dead rather than outright confirming it to be the case.

Well, all this time later there's even more fuel to add to the fire. Mando himself recently did an AMA (Ask Me Anything) over on Reddit and the role of Vaas came up. The actor declared his love for the character, being partly responsible for his creation, before suggesting that Vaas might return sometime soon.

"Thank you so much! Vaas is my spirit animal - having co-created that character is something that will always be dear to me. I still get recognized as Vaas, and I still feel the outpouring of love for that character - makes me very happy. Who knows... maybe I will reprise the role very soon?"

While Ubisoft themselves are yet to officially announce Far Cry 6, reputable insider Jason Schreier says the publisher does indeed have plans for the next instalment. Apparently, they were aiming for a March 2021 release though these plans may well have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. So, Mando is either having a bit of fun or he has actually let the cat out of the bag.
