As we all know, Gears 5 has done away with the gear packs from Gears 4 and will be offering post-launch DLC for free, but the latest installment in the popular franchise still features its fair share of microtransactions.

And while many fans were pleased to see that most of these purchasable items were merely cosmetics, the price and quality of the various items were still the target of a lot of criticism. Now, Studio Head of The Coalition, Rod Fergusson has commented on the development of the microtransactions in the game.

"We're learning as we go," Fergusson explained via a Twitter post. "This is a completely different economy from Gears 4 (removed Gear packs) so it will take a little time to work through any issues. Our first attempt is not our last and we will continue to evolve until we get it right."

Obviously, Fergusson's statement won't bring an end to all of the criticism leveled at the way Gears 5 was monetized, but some fans will surely like to hear that The Coalition is aware of the complaints and that they are attempting to correct their mistakes.

That said, gamers will ultimately have to wait and see if the developers deliver on their promise to fix this mechanic and whether these changes can reignite the interest of dissatisfied fans.
