Epic Games' forthcoming Gears of War 2, an Xbox 360 exclusive title, will feature optional filters for both on-screen violence and language, in an attempt to make the game more appropriate for younger players.
Gears of War 2 appears to be even more violent than the original Gears of War, which is hard to imagine, considering the ability to take opponents heads off of their shoulders in a number of different ways, blowing them up by sticking them with a grenade, to cutting them in half with a chainsaw equipped rifle.
GoW2 will include filters that "turns the blood into sparks" and "takes out all the swear words," Microsoft informed, What They Play, a parental gaming resource.
How the filters will handle the new moves used to finish downed opponents, exploding bodies, and the new "Meat Shield" ability (using a downed opponent as a body shield to soak up enemy rounds) is currently unkown.
