Looking at Microsoft's line-up of high profile exclusives for Xbox One is a pretty depressing experience, especially compared to what Sony and Nintendo managed to create in the few last years. When your biggest upcoming exclusive is Sea of Thieves, there's something wrong with your management strategy.
According to the recent rumors, Microsoft has finally realized that and is trying to return to the game with potentially huge titles, such as new Perfect Dark and Halo. But a title that has the biggest chance to win the gamers over would be Fable 4, the continuation of one of the biggest and most well-known Xbox's series.
Former Lionshead programmer Don Williamson revealed that he knows who's building Fable 4 now and it's apparently an "interesting choice". The rumor indicates that it's a UK-based studio, but not Studio Gobo's Electric Square, because the project would be too big for a debuting developer.
According to Forbes, that leaves only one option, Playground Games, the studio responsible for the Forza Horizon series. The company is also looking for developers for a "project at an early stage, giving you the rare opportunity to shape the future of an exciting, large-scale open world action / RPG AAA title from the outset".
It's pretty safe to say that Playground is working on an RPG AAA title and it's highly possible that this title is another Fable game. After the cancelled Fable Legends project, it would be nice to see a title that lives up to Peter Molyneux's legacy.
