Microsoft reveals Xbox 360 fall dashboard update coming early next month, plus new features revealed

Microsoft announced last month that Xbox LIVE Beefing Up TV & Entertainment Services This Fall. Microsoft announced earlier this week that the upcoming dashboard update, inspired by Microsoft's "Metro" design used in Windows Phone 7 and the upcoming Windows 8, is due to hit on December 6th.

The new Xbox 360 dashboard will host a range of new features including expanded support for navigation using voice and gesture controls with the Kinect camera. The update also introduces the new beacon system to facilitate finding friends for gameplay sessions, deeper Facebook integration, and cloud storage for game saves.

Microsoft also noted that new, customised applications for television, movies, internet videos, sports and music will begin rolling out from world-leading providers in more than 20 countries starting December 6th and continuing through 2012.
