Developer Phoenix Labs has announced that their all-new Monster Hunter-inspired free-to-play action RPG Dauntless has been pushed back to summer. Dauntless was supposed to launch next month, but the independent game studio located in the heart of Vancouver needs more time to finish the title.

According to Phoenix Labs, the delay will allow them to “polish gameplay, stress-test for scale, and complete additional features in time for launch on console and the Epic Games store.” Yes, Dauntless is another title that was originally set to be available on Steam, but the developer has decided to jump on the EGS "exclusivity" bandwagon. Dauntless is also planned for release on Switch and smartphones.

Just like Monster Hunter, Dauntless gives players a chance to kill enormous monsters, harvest their parts, and use them to craft even better weapons to hunt even bigger beasts. The studio is also working on cross-play support for its console releases, bringing their “One Dauntless” vision to life.

Be sure to take a closer look at Dauntless' latest monster, Boreus, who possesses the ability to summon swarms of minions to its aid, in the recently released dev diary (featuring new footage) down below:

Powerful, wild, and ravenous for the aether that holds the Shattered Isles aloft, Behemoths are a threat to our very existence. Team up with other Slayers to confront these massive beasts before they consume what's left of our world. Discover your strengths and refine your skills as you fight alongside up to three other Slayers. Whether you choose to hunt with real-life companions or match with Slayers across the globe, you'll always have a friend in the fight.

Dauntless is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Epic Games Store this summer.
