We recently shared our review of the hilarious new game Save Your Nuts, which, despite its punny title, is a title for all ages. It recently launched on XBOX One, Steam, and Nintendo Switch from Triple Scale Games.

The concept of Save Your Nuts is that the player chooses which creature they wish to play as -- an armadillo, a dog, a squirrel, a beaver, a wolf, and a raccoon -- and then head into a free for all or team-based match. Depending on the game type players can choose a king of the hill style game, a capture the flag style game, and a versus mode.

Although it only recently released, the price is still a fair $14.99. While it has already released on Nintendo Switch, Steam, and XBOX One, the PS4 version is still to come.

We had the opportunity to chat with Frederic Bohn, who is the founder and Indie game developer of Triple Scale Games. We asked him a bit about their new title and learned quite a bit about the inspiration the company pulled from for the game. Take a look at his comments below!

Joe: First of all, I’d like to ask where the initial idea for Save Your Nuts came from? It’s a very specific and on the nose title that knows exactly what it goes for. How was the project initially born?

Frederic Bohn:
I live in Canada and I was inspired by what I see very often in parks in the cities: dogs running after squirrels. I have always found it fun to watch, dogs can never catch them and squirrels give the impression of taunting. The project was born 3 years ago.

After 5 years working in the game industry for medium and big companies as a programmer, I was missing creativity. I was working on my free time on personal projects with UE4. When I realized I was having more fun doing that and when I saw I can afford the development of a full game, I decided to quit my job to bootstrap Triple Scale Games.

Joe: I know the game has been compared to Rocket League, but did your team look to any specific games or other media for inspiration?

Frederic Bohn:
I think people compare it to Rocket League because everybody know Rocket League, but it’s not a party game. In the 1 st mode of “Save Your Nuts” you also have to bring an object into a goal but the gameplay mechanics are different. Our inspirations come from party games like Mario Striker, Knight Squad, Overcooked, not so much from Rocket League.

Joe: Are there any other titles in the works that your fans would enjoy if they like Save Your Nuts?

Frederic Bohn:
They will probably like our inspiration: Mario Striker, Knight Squad and also Ultimate Chicken Horse, Laser League, Towerfall, A Gummy’s Life, Tiny Tanks.

Joe: Is there anything you would like me to share with your audience?

Frederic Bohn:
There is a free demo if you want to try the game (a demo is available on PC, XB1 and Switch). You can come to our discord server to share ideas and talk about the game with the devs and the community.
