Sabotage Studio and Devolver Digital's The Messenger is a 2D platformer game with action elements that was heavily inspired by the Nintendo Entertainment System's classic Ninja Gaiden series — borrowing some of the best elements of the Tecmo and Hudson Soft developed titles and even improving on them.

In December of last year, Sabotage Studio announced the "Picnic Panic" DLC; a free update that would be including new levels and other interesting elements to keep fans coming back to the game and getting the most out of it.

As the "Picnic Panic" free DLC for The Messenger becomes available today, the developer has shared an action-packed trailer that give us a good look at the new tropical-inspired levels and gigantic new bosses that will keep players on the edge of their seats.

Check it out:

As a demon army besieges his village, a young ninja ventures through a cursed world, to deliver a scroll paramount to his clan’s survival. What begins as a classic action platformer soon unravels into an expansive time-traveling adventure full of thrills, surprises, and humor.

The Messenger is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
