Playtonic and Team 17 surprised
Yooka-Laylee fans with the announcement that they were working on a direct sequel to the
Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor. It was also a surprise to find out this new game would not be a 3D platformer, but a new 2D platformer more akin to the
Donkey Kong Country series.
Even when
Yookay-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is a 2D platformer through and through, the game does feature a top-down perspective overworld in 3D and, while it may not be exactly what fans had in mind, it still does the job when it comes to some puzzle-solving, as recently revealed by the developer.
In a trailer released today by Team17, players are introduced to
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair's "alternate level states", whih are secret levels that can be accesed by playersthrough the game's overworld, and finding all these levels does involve some puzzle-solving.
