April 22, 2025 will mark an important day for Bethesda fans, as on that day, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered launched as one of the gaming industry's worst-kept shadow drops. While it was very clear that it was happening, the fact the game actually did release with its biggest promo aside from a presentation on the day of release being a single social media post the day prior, makes you think about what other games were poised to release.
That's what we're here to discuss, these are some of the games that got lost in the fray thanks to the beckoning call of Oblivion.
#5 Darkwater
Developed by Targon Studios and published by Playstack, Darkwater is an early access submarine extraction horror game similar to Lethal Company and R.E.P.O. It asks you to survive the icy depths of an alien moon with monsters out to get you. Combine that with its strategy and co-op elements, you're bound to have a good time if you're up for a spooky submarine builder.
You can get started playing Darkwater solo or with friends on Steam!
#4 Desperate Place
Developed by BruceGalaxy and published by the studio and NPC Entertainment, Desperate Place is a base builder and tower defense game with a sci-fi backdrop. After escaping the confines of Earth, humanity has begun seeking out new planets to inhabit. While venturing, your ship is forced to make an emergency landing on an unknown planet. Now, it's up to you to fix the damaged spacecraft in order to return to your mission.
Similarly to Darkwater, you can also pick up Desperate Place on Steam!
#3 Steel Seed
Developed by Storm in a Teacup and published by ESDigital Games, Steel Seed continues the sci-fi trend. With a lot more production value than the rest, it's a stealth action game where you must uncover the way to save humanity, which is now on the brink of extinction, with your only means of doing so being to enter enemy territory as lead protagonist Zoe and her robot companion KOBY.
Unlike the last games, Steel Seed is available on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S!
#2 Maliki: Poison Of The Past
Developed by Blue Banshee and published by Ankama Games, Maliki: Poison of the Past keeps to the trend of humanity being on the brink of extinction with the protagonist, Sand, banding alongside a group of time survivors to stop Poison, a plant monster that can bend time and space to its will. Engage in roleplaying, puzzle solving, and turn-based combat to duke it out with the foes that stand in your way.
You can step into Sand's shoes in Maliki: Poison of the Past on Steam and the Nintendo Switch!
#1 Post Trauma
Developed by Red Soul Games and published by Raw Fury, Post Trauma is one of those retro-at-heart games full of puzzles, fixed camera angles, and unsettling visuals. Take control of middle-aged train conductor Roman as he figures out if defending himself with a line of weapons is the best course of action or if running is more ideal. Move across different settings to unravel the mystery of where you are and how to escape.
The game has much more than some regular indie project, featuring full voice acting from Rise of the Ronin's Togo Igawa, The Mortuary Assistant's Autumn Ivy, and Wuthering Waves' Hyoie O’Grady.
If you wanna jump in on the survival horror action, you can pick up Post Trauma on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S!
There you go, some of the games that you could've easily missed released thanks to the launch of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Do any of these games beckon your name?
