Daily logins in OOC: The Playable Anime are worth twice as much this week. Wrtn Technologies has launched a Halloween event in its interactive anime story app that doubles the free Credits players can claim each day, along with a seasonal theme, a new Home screen section and a batch of free responses aimed at getting players to try characters they have not met yet.

OOC, short for Out Of Character, plays out like a visual novel driven by conversation. Players pick a story, talk to the characters in their own words and push the plot wherever they want it to go, and the Halloween event touches nearly every part of that loop.

600 Credits A Day

Credits are what players spend to keep conversations going, so the biggest change for regular users is the doubled check-in. The Claim Free Credits tab normally gives 300 Credits per day, and during the event it gives 600. OOC's official notice lists the bonus as running through October 30 at 11:59 p.m. PT.

Over the full window, that adds up to 1,800 more Credits than a normal week. For players who usually ration their messages, it is a good time to pick up a story that has been sitting in the backlog.

Free Responses Starting October 29

The second reward kicks in later in the week. Promotional material for the event says that from October 29 to November 8, players will get 7 free responses for each eligible OOC Original they had not interacted with before October 25.

OOC Originals are the first-party stories and characters made by the OOC team, and the company says there are 409 of them in the app, on top of more than 52,000 stories and 58,000 characters across the platform as a whole. Seven free messages is enough to get a feel for a character's personality and the setup of a story before deciding whether to spend Credits on it, which makes the offer a low-risk way to sample genres you would normally skip.

Trick Or Chat And A New Look

The Home screen now has a dedicated Halloween section called Trick or Chat, placed between OOC Originals and Trending Now. Stories land there when their creators tag them with the Halloween hashtag, so the row mixes official content with player-made ghost stories, haunted academies and monster hunts.

Updating the app also swaps in Halloween versions of the navigation tabs, a seasonal app icon and a new launch screen. That theme stays active until November 7 at 11:59 p.m. PT.

What Keeps Players Coming Back

The app's pitch is that the characters feel consistent over long stories. Its Deep Memory feature is built to help characters recall what happened earlier in a conversation, which is important for the kind of long-form stories that do well on the platform, such as slow-burn romances, isekai adventures and multi-chapter mysteries. Genres span sci-fi, isekai, romance, comedy, horror and fantasy, and horror is the obvious star for the next couple of weeks.

The creator side is just as important. Players can build their own characters and scenarios and publish them for others, and seasonal sections like Trick or Chat give those creators a spotlight they would not usually get next to the official Originals.

Event Schedule

  • Double daily check-in, 600 Credits: through October 30, 11:59 p.m. PT
  • 7 free responses per eligible OOC Original: October 29 to November 8
  • Trick or Chat section: live now
  • Halloween theme, icon and launch screen: through November 7, 11:59 p.m. PT

Is the doubled check-in enough to get you logging in every day this week, or are the free responses for new Originals the bigger draw for you?
