Niantic's mobile game
Pokémon Go is still hugely popular after four years of release. A big part of that is due to the fun aspect of collecting shiny variants in the game.
Much like the once widely-coveted holigraphic cards in the
Pokémon Trading Card Game, the shiny variants offer fans of the Pokémon franchise something more to do and add to their collection while giving trainers another competitive angle an furthering the replay value of the game.
During the recent Team GO Rocket Event the spawn rates for Pokémon which are frequented by the dastardly team were increased and the shiny variants of Koffing and Ekans (the initial Pokémon of Jesse and James) were introduced.
Thanks to a Reddit post on The Silph Road, it has recently been discovered however that the shiny Koffing's Gas Emission has been glitched this entire time and Niantic has only just now realized it. Take a look at the comparison below.

Some people were quick to point out that the Koffing that was glitched looked better with the dual colors in the Gas Emission, and that's likely exactly the reason it slipped past Niantic in the first place. Which do you think looks better?
