The Hollywood Reporter learned yesterday that Deadpool director Tim Miller has signed on to develop Sony Pictures' film adaptation of the über-popular video game series Sonic the Hedgehog.

Miller will be joined on the venture by longtime Blur Studios collaborator & fellow Academy Award-nominee Jeff Fowler (Gopher Broke), who is being eyed to helm the project while Miller will serve as an executive producer.

Golan the Insatiable writers Patrick Casey & Josh Miller are currently working on the script.
Neal H. Moritz (Fast & Furious franchise), Takeshi Ito, & Mie Onishi will serve as producers on the project, which is being described as a hybrid CG-animated/live-action family film.
