DJ Sona is officially back in the spotlight, and if one leaks account is right, she may be bringing a new skin with her. The fan-favorite musical alter ego features on GIRLS, the closing track on K/DA's new FIRESTARTER EP, and a popular League of Legends leaks account now claims a new music-themed Sona skin is on the way.
Before anyone starts saving RP, it's worth stressing that Riot Games hasn't announced a new Sona skin. The only source for the claim so far is an unofficial account, so treat this as a rumor until Riot says otherwise.
DJ Sona Is Officially Part Of The FIRESTARTER Era
The confirmed part of this story is DJ Sona's return. K/DA released the full four-track FIRESTARTER EP yesterday, with FIRESTARTER, WATCH ME and NEVER GOING BACK followed by GIRLS, which is officially billed as a collaboration with DJ Sona.
Riot's announcement describes DJ Sona as one of League of Legends' earliest virtual artists, a reimagining of the champion as an EDM DJ and music producer. It also notes that this marks her first return since 2015 and that she previously collaborated with electronic acts including The Crystal Method, Dada Life and Pretty Lights.
The official track credits list vocals from Sophie Powers, who also voices Evelynn in the new K/DA lineup, along with Sorana and Royal & the Serpent. The song was produced by M-Phazes and Bas van Daalen. You can listen to it below.
What The Leak Claims
Shortly after the EP dropped, the League of Leaks account on X shared an image it described as a "First look at the new music-themed Sona skin coming on November 18." The post didn't name the skin, explain where the image came from or say whether it was pulled from the game's test server.
We're not embedding the image here, as it isn't official material. Riot's own channels haven't mentioned a Sona skin, and the official K/DA and League of Legends accounts have only promoted DJ Sona as a featured artist on the track.
That leaves a few possibilities. The image could be early art for a real cosmetic, it could be promotional artwork tied to the song, or the date could simply be wrong. Without confirmation from Riot, there's no way to know which.
Why The Timing Would Make Sense
If a skin is coming, the calendar would fit neatly around K/DA's rollout. The group's official schedule has a GIRLS (w/ DJ Sona) video premiering on Spotify on November 3, followed by a general release on November 5. K/DA then takes the stage at the Worlds 2026 Opening Ceremony on November 14, which we covered separately, and a mid-November skin launch would land right after that.
Riot has also already shown it is happy to tie music releases to cosmetics. The new K/DA FIRESTARTER skins are part of the current in-game push, with the official League of Legends account confirming that K/DA Firestarter Akali is available as a Mythic Variant on Patch 26.22. The music-themed Battle of the Bands event is also running in the game right now.
A Quick Look Back At DJ Sona
DJ Sona first arrived as an Ultimate skin in 2015, and she remains one of the most ambitious cosmetics Riot has made. The skin let players swap between three musical forms, Kinetic, Concussive and Ethereal, each with its own soundtrack that played as the match went on.
Ultimate skins have become rare, so a fresh Sona skin built around her DJ identity would be a big deal for longtime players. Whether it would be a straightforward new skin, a variant or something tied to the K/DA line, nobody outside Riot knows at this point.
A Busy Month For K/DA
DJ Sona's return is only one part of a huge K/DA comeback. Beyond the EP and the Worlds performance, Secretlab has launched a K/DA FIRESTARTER chair and desk collection, and Riftbound is selling a K/DA Couture Collection through a limited drawing. If Riot does have a Sona skin planned, it would arrive in the middle of the biggest K/DA moment in years.
For now, the safe bet is to enjoy GIRLS and wait for Riot to confirm or deny the leak.
Would you buy a new DJ Sona skin if Riot makes it official, or is the original Ultimate skin still the one to beat?
