Leslie Benzies, the former president of Rockstar North, has announced that he's working on a new video game titled Everywhere using Amazon's free game engine, Lumberyard. That's only a temporary name for the title, and as of right now, we know nothing about which genre it will fit into, the gameplay, or even the platforms it's going to be released on when work on it is finally completed.
Benzies has revealed that his studio has a long-term vision for the title, though, with the ultimate goal being to "create a platform where players can be entertained, and also entertain others while blurring the lines between reality, and a simulated world." He also plans on having his team use Lumberyard's client/cloud features "to create a new type of game that was never before possible."
Amazon released Lumberyard last year, and it's based on CryEngine, an engine the company licensed from Crytek in 2015 for between $50 million - $70 million. Benzies' credits include Grand Theft Auto III, IV, and V as well as Red Dead Redemption and GTA Online. He left Rockstar in 2016 and later sued Take-Two Interactive for $150 million claiming that he had been forced out of the company. Thoughts?
