We're now in 2023's third month and there's still no sign of an official Grand Theft Auto 6 reveal. Rumours persisted throughout nearly the entirety of last year about a trailer dropping, but aside from confirming a sixth instalment of the iconic franchise is in the works, Rockstar Games has remained quiet.
A recent social media post from rapper and actor 50 Cent has fans talking today, though, and that saw him share Grand Theft Auto Vice City's logo alongside the caption, "I will explain this later, GLG GreenLight Gang this shit bigger than Power trust me. Boom #bransoncognac #lecheminduroi."
It's a pretty cryptic message, but one that's prompted theories ranging from him starring in the game to confirming that it will be set in Vice City (which we kind of already knew after last year's leaks).
Previous reports have indicated we'll play as male and female leads in Grand Theft Auto 6, with one a criminal and the other on the right side of the law...if that's even possible in this world.
While that big hack offered an idea of what's to come, it could have derailed the project. Thankfully, publisher Take-Two has since confirmed it won't have any impact on development. As for that hacker, they were later arrested by British police.
If nothing else, we'd say it's possible 50 Cent is working on music for the game and hope this might lead to a long-overdue announcement.
Is it naive to think we might get to play the game this year? It's certainly possible it could arrive in time for the holidays, but that would give Rockstar a short window to market it. However, this is guaranteed best seller no matter what happens, so it could be we get hands on with Grand Theft Auto 6 soon.
