Grand Theft Auto V originally released all the way back in September 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Since then, the immensely popular open-world game made the jump to the eighth generation — the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Not to mention, the PC. However, its reign isn't over yet.
The very first announcement from Sony's PlayStation 5 games showcase confirmed that Grand Theft Auto V will be coming to the next-generation console. When exactly? Well, at some point in 2021. What's more, those that own the PlayStation 4 version of Grand Theft Auto V will get $1,000,000 in-game cash to spend in GTA Online until the PlayStation 5 launches later this year.
Speaking of the online portion of the game, it's said that GTA Online will go free-to-play when Grand Theft Auto V releases on the PlayStation 5 next year. That means anyone and everyone who owns a PlayStation 5 can join in on the fun. Though, it's only available for free for three months after launch.
Of course, it's not just a simple port of an outdated game but rather an updated and improved version. You can check out the announcement trailer for yourself below (via PlayStation). Whether or not it includes footage from the PlayStation 5 version of the game is hard to tell.
