It was back in 2015 that OpenIV was first used to start cracking open Grand Theft Auto V, but the Russian developers behind the modding tool (which has provided us with a lot of bizarre YouTube videos these past couple of years) are now setting their sights on bringing Grand Theft Auto IV's Liberty City map into the game. That's a pretty huge endeavour, and one you'd best believe fans will embrace.
"The Liberty City will not replace Los Santos or Blaine County, but appears across the sea. Using the power of OpenIV and openFormats, we was able to bring Liberty City right into GTA V map," the group announced yesterday. No screenshots or even a release date have surfaced as of yet, but they're hoping to make it available "as soon as possible" so you'll want to keep your eyes peeled for updates!
You'll need a copy of both games for this to work as the mod will require the previous game's file to copy the city over. You'll then have a DLC pack of sorts to add to GTA V, but be warned, there's a good chance you'll get banned from GTA Online from toying around with this! Still, it might just be worth it...
