Coming later this year,
LEGO DC Super-Villains takes the entire
LEGO superheroes genre of games and turns it upside down when it puts you in the role of super-villain who is forced to
save rule the world. While the San Diego Comic-Con trailer provided us with a bit of clarity regarding this zany plot, we now have some more context for why the Justice League have disappeared and why it's up to the villains of the Injustice League to stop whoever is behind this mysterious plot.
Turns out, the villainous Darkseid is behind the whole thing. A newly released story trailer from gamescom reveals that Darkseid is ultimately responsible for the Justice Syndicate, evil versions of the Justice League (who have disappeared). Now it's up to you and the rest of the DC villains to stop Darkseid and takeover the world yourself.
As previously revealed,
LEGO DC Super-Villains will introduce a new character creation mechanic, which allows players to create their very own super-villain. While you'll likely still be able to play with the other iconic DC villains (and presumably heroes) in a sandbox mode, it looks like the main story will revolve around your custom-created villain.
LEGO DC Super-Villains releases October 16, 2018, for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
