Capcom has has a brilliant comeback this past few years, with
Mega Man 11 bringing back their iconic jump and shoot game series back and with the critically acclaimed
Resident Evil 2 remake; after Capcom had either neglected them or completely missed the mark.
We now have some fantastic news for fans of Capcom's Blue Bomber, as
Mega Man series producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya has recently revealed that the next entry in the series has already been decided on; exciting news regardless of what that game may be.
Tsuchiya sat down with 4Gamer, where he was specifically asked about the revival of the
Mega Man Star Force series, or even a sequel to the
Mega Man X: Command Mission role-playing game.
"
I see (laughs). There are a lot of titles I personally want to work on, but to tell the truth the next game to be developed has already been decided on, I'd just like to keep the specific details hidden for the moment. Please wait until we make an announcement," answered Tsuchiya, while also clarifying that — at least for him — there are no such things as spin-offs in the
Mega Man series.
"
Still, I think that the there's no such thing as a spin-off in the Mega Man series, every saga is a main series on its own. When speaking of "Mega Man", there will always be people who think of "X", as well as people who think of "EXE", and I think that's why each one's concept of what Mega Man is changes depending on the generation. For that reason, we don't want to deny any series of its future."
While Tsuchiya's answer may sound a little bit too ambiguous, it is clear that he's still not allowed to unveil that mysterious new title in the
Mega Man series.
Capcom has already teased Mega Man X9 in the past, and after a successful series revival with
Mega Man 11, chances are that the developer will probably focus on the
Mega Man X series next.
