Sony's
Metal Gear Solid adaptation adds another crucial filming crew member. Derek Conolly, who debuted with
Safety Not Guaranteed, was later discovered by Stephen Spielberg himself and moved together with the picture's director, Colin Trevorrow to
Jurassic World. The enormous box-office success of
Jurassic Park's soft reboot opened many doors for the screenwriter, as he also panned scripts for
Kong: Skull Island,
Intelligent Life and the
JW's follow-up,
Fallen Kingdom.
Connolly will join
Kong: Skull Island's director, Jordan Vogt-Roberts and the producer Avi Arad to hopefully break the bad video-games adaptation curse. Last year, both
Warcraft and
Assassin's Creed failed to meet the audience expectations, so let's keep fingers crossed for
Metal Gear Solid and next year's
Tomb Rider reboot starring Alicia Vikander.
Metal Gear Solid is an action-adventure stealth video game produced by Konami Computer Entertainment Japan and released for the PlayStation in 1998. The game was directed, produced, and co-written by series creator Hideo Kojima. MGS follows Solid Snake, a soldier who infiltrates a nuclear weapons facility to neutralize the terrorist threat from FOXHOUND, a renegade special forces unit. Snake must liberate two hostages, the head of DARPA and the president of a major arms manufacturer, confront the terrorists, and stop them from launching a nuclear strike.
Metal Gear Solid doesn't have a release date yet.
