According to the official Assassin's Creed lore, the Isu, also known as The First Civilization and Those Who Came Before were an ancient and advanced species of humanoid beings on Earth who created the Pieces of Eden, some of the most powerful artifacts in history, as well as the human race itself. Exactly who they were, where they came from and when they disappeared is largely unknown.
Juno was an Isu scientist who had a husband named Aita, whom she was forced to euthanize and immortalize after an experiment. Over the next thousands of years, the First Civilization numbers dwindled, and they eventually became extinct. However before their end, Juno manipulated the patterns of existence, leaving clues leading to the Grand Temple, so their successors could stop the next solar flare that would hit Earth again seventy-five millennia later. She was ultimately imprisoned in the Grand Temple by Minerva and Jupiter for her crimes against her own kind and humanity. In Assassin's Creed III, Juno was the primary antagonist to the series' main protagonist Desmond Miles.
It may sound complicated but basically after the events of Assassin's Creed III and attempts on destroying all life on Earth, Juno's consciousness managed to inhabit the equipment brought by the Abstergo forensics team and she spread through the web to inhabit a wide variety of networked systems. It looks like she's back for good in the last episode of Ubisoft and Titan Comics' series.
Uprising #12 is set to be the final chapter in the story. In this issue, the Abstergo scientists manage to create Juno's clone. She says shortly after her "rebirth" that she is finally ready to walk the earth once more. After nearly a decade, fans will finally see if Juno's plan succeeds or if the Assassins can stop her. Are you excited to check out the end of the most important story arc this franchise has ever known?
