After months of rumours claiming that the next Assassin's Creed game will be all about vikings and Norse mythology, as well as more recent rumours which claimed that the next instalment in the action-adventure series will be unveiled soon; Ubisoft officially revealed Assassin's Creed Valhalla earlier today — find out more on that here.
What's more, the first official trailer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla will debut at 8:00 AM (PDT) tomorrow. Said trailer will undoubtedly reveal a helluva lot more about the upcoming instalment and possibly even the game's release date. However, the cat might already be out of the bag.
Earlier this week, a listing surfaced on Amazon Germany which revealed that a companion novel will release on November 17th, 2020. Assassin's Creed novels are a staple of the franchise and often release within weeks or even days of the video games themselves. For instance, the companion novel for Assassin's Creed Origins released just seventeen days prior to the game itself.
Listings for the companion novel in question actually appeared on more than just Amazon but also a plethora of other German stores — so it's almost certainly legitimate. It's worth noting that the keywords featured in at least one of the listings include: "Ragnarok," "Viking," and "Valhalla."
That being said, it seems that we should expect Assassin's Creed Valhalla to debut on or around November 17th. It is a Tuesday, after all, which means that the next instalment could potentially release on the very same day. Though, it's worth keeping in mind that the game's release date could very well depend on that of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot recently stated that they would be willing to delay their upcoming titles the coincide with the release of the next-generation consoles — should the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X be delayed on account of the coronavirus pandemic. Find out more on that here.
