In March, Bethesda posted a short gif suggesting that Arkane is working on a new expansion that will give players a chance to visit and discover the secrets of the Moon. That's where the mysterious Pytheas laboratories were located, directly in one of the Moon's craters. Another teaser has basically confirmed that assumption and even more, suggesting this DLC will be released on July 10, 2018.
Our guess turned out to be true as Bethesda announced, during their E3 2018 conference, two new DLCs for their first-person sleeper hit, Prey, along with a massive free update. The DLC update called Mooncrash allows you to fight overwhelming odds to escape a secret TranStar moon base while the free update for the game introduces three new modes: Story Mode, New Game +, and Survival Mode.
Bethesda promised that Prey will also receive at least two free updates, and the first one, Full Moon, adds new content, including weapons, mimics, and some Bethesda-branded Operators. The Full Moon update is free for all Mooncrash or Prey: Digital Deluxe owners and includes the following:
- Skyrim Theme Operator
- The Evil Within Theme Operator
- Striped Top Hat Mimic
- Bamboo Hat Mimic
- Engraved Silenced Pistol
- Engraved Shotgun
- Engraved G.L.O.O. Cannon
- Engraved Wrench
The next update is apparently coming in “just a few weeks," introducing a multiplayer update that includes VR functionality and Typhon Hunter, which is also planned to release sometime this summer.
Take a look:
In Prey: Mooncrash, TranStar’s secret moon base stopped transmitting shortly after the events of Prey. Now Peter, a hacker stationed aboard a spy satellite tasked with intercepting TranStar communications, must find out why. Trapped and under a ruthless contract with KASMA Corp, Peter’s only hope of ever seeing his family again is uncovering the moon base’s lost secrets.
Prey’s Mooncrash DLC is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC NOW!
