While this is far from the first time that we have gotten a Resident Evil film released, the upcoming reboot directed by Johannes Roberts promises to give us our moth faithful adaption yet. Aside from some CG films set in the world of the video games, there have been no faithful live-action adaptions of the series itself.
While there have been seven live-action films that borrowed elements of the franchise, this new film looks to take things back to its roots by bringing us characters like Leon Kennedy, Chris, and Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, Wesker, and more! Set in Raccoon City, the new reboot looks to place the viewer in the height of the city's outbreak.
While the movie's story is still unknown, the set photos seem to confirm that we will be spending time somewhere in the timeline during Resident Evil 2 and 3. Thankfully, we won't have to wait much longer for an answer ever since the film's official Twitter dropped a post to announce that filming has wrapped! Hopefully, it won't be much longer before we get a trailer!
While there are still more questions than answers for the film, are you excited about what this reboot will offer? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
The game's plot follows Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, members of an elite task force known as S.T.A.R.S., as they investigate the outskirts of Raccoon City following the disappearance of their team members. They soon become trapped in a mansion infested with zombies and other monsters.
Resident Evil will release in Fall 2021!
