If you thought
The Evil Within 2 was scary already, just wait until you play it in first-person mode. Though fans already experienced a specific part of the game's story in first person, developer Tango Gameworks has listened to fan feedback and figured out a way to extend this feature to the rest of the game. Courtesy of a free update today, you can now play
The Evil Within 2 in its entirety in first-person on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
On developing this new feature, producer Shinsaku Ohara explained:
We experimented a bit with first-person in the full game, but it was more of an afterthought and a little bit of playing around on our side, since we designed the game in third-person.
Some savvy users figured out a way to activate this mode outside of its intended area, and the reaction to it was pretty positive, so we said, “What the heck. Let’s put it in as a bonus for all platforms.” A lot of players like playing horror games in first-person, so for those who want to see some of the game’s situations through Sebastian’s eyes, it’s a really neat experience.
First-person mode can be toggled on and off in the game's main menu at any point during the game. A free trial for The Evil Within 2 is available for those who want to try it out, granting access to the opening chapters of the survival-horror game. All save data will carry over should you choose to purchase the full game.
