2K Games announcing that they were working on definitive editions of the critically acclaimed Mafia trilogy was a rather unexpected news, but one that was received with excitment by fans of the long-running series. Even more so when it was revealed that the first Mafia was actually getting a remake.
Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition were pretty much ready to be released when 2K Games announced them, but those games in particular were only remasters of their previous-gen counterparts, which is why both of them were released a week after the announcement.
The developer mentioned that they needed a little bit more time to polish some details in Mafia: Definitive Edition, and we are finally a couple of weeks away from the game's highly anticipated release. Everything we've seen about this remake, so far, really makes the game shine; for all the right reasons, too.
Each of the Definitive Editions can be purchased individually, but those who purchased the Mafia Trilogy will have to patiently wait until Mafia: Definitive Edition releases on Friday the 25th of September.
For those who are still a bit antsy, and can't wait to play the soon-to-be-released remake, 2K Games keeps releasing new trailers that show off everything they have in store for players once Mafia: Definitive Edition becomes available, and the latest trailer introduces players to the immersive world of the 1930s gangsters; focusing on weapons and vehicles, in particular.
