Last week, the Toronto Raptors traded their longtime star guard DeMar DeRozan, center Jakob Poeltl, and a 2019 top-20 protected first round draft pick to the San Antonio Spurs for forward Kahwi Leonard and guard Danny Green, a move that sent shockwaves all across the NBA.
Shortly after the trade was officially submitted to the league and announced by both teams, NBA 2K19 revealed the updated player ratings for both Leonard and DeRozan. Leonard, the 2014 NBA Finals MVP and 2x Defensive Player of the Year was awarded a 94 while DeRozan, a 4x NBA All-Star, was given an 89.
The ratings are, as always, subject to change as the season progresses and it's somewhat difficult to predict which version of Leonard the Raptors will be getting as he's only appeared in nine games since the end of the 2016-2017 season. DeRozan is also expected to thrive in Gregg Popovich's system and could theoretically build on his 23.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 5.2 apg, 1.1 spg, and 0.3 bpg averages from last season.
