With the NBA free agency in full swing, 2K is celebrating the chaos by announcing the cover athletes for
NBA 2K20.
Gracing the cover of the Standard and Deluxe Editions of the game is six-time NBA All-Star, three-time All-NBA First Team, three-time NBA All-Defensive Team and 2012 Olympic gold medalist Anthony Davis. The former New Orleans Pelican will be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers soon. When that happens, he'll be sporting a Lakers jersey on the cover.
This marks the second time Davis will appear on the cover of an
NBA 2K game. He also appeared on the cover of
NBA 2K16 alongside Stephen Curry and James Harden.
Featured on the cover the Legend Edition of the game will be three-time NBA Champion, 13-time NBA All-Star, 2008 Olympic gold medalist and 2006 NBA Finals MVP Dwyane Wade. He retired from the Miami Heat this offseason. This is the first time Wad has appeared on the cover of
NBA 2K.
2K released a brief trailer alongside the announcement, showcasing NBA superstars like Kawhi Leonard, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant. Kawhi Leonard is currently a free agent while Kevin Durant recently signed with the Brooklyn Nets. LeBron James is in his second year with the Lakers.
The trailer also showed gameplay footage of A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces, essentially confirming that WNBA players will be playable for the first time in franchise history. 2K is a little late to the party though, as EA Sports introduced the WNBA to its
NBA Live series in 2017.
NBA 2K20 hits the court worldwide on September 6 for Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. A version of the game will also release for Google Stadia later this year.
