SNK's
Samurai Shodown series has been around for quite a long time, being released for the NeoGeo in 1993; eventually being ported to other consoles like the Super Nintendo and Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, to name only but a few.
The iconic fighting series has been missing in action for quite some time, though; considering that the last title in the series was released in 2010, when
Samurai Shodown: Edge of Destiny released for Arcades in Japan and North America.
Back in September, fans of the iconic sword fighting series were ecstatic when SNK released the first teaser trailer for a new entry in the series; simply titled
Samurai Shodown. No details about the game were given, however, so all we had was the teaser.
Today, SNK has released the second teaser trailer for
Samurai Shodown — showing off some action-packed footage that gives us a better idea of what the game will end up looking like; and it looks fantastic.
The art style that SNK decided to go with for the new
Samurai Shodown fits the aesthetics of the series to a T, keeping the anime-look intact; unlike some other series like Street Fighter, which have approached a more realistic art style in later entries.
We still don't have too many details about
Samurai Shodown, but we do know that it is expected to release early this summer. The teaser trailer also revealed that the game will be playable at PAX East 2019, so anyone attending the event will be able to give the new
Samurai Shodown a try.
Take a look:
Samurai Shodown will become available early this summer.
