Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft have announced that the relatively recently released Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO has reached quite the impressive milestone, managing to sell a total of 5 million units worldwide.

Furthermore, the new fighting game based on the manga created by the late Akira Toriyama has also become the Dragon Ball series' fastest-selling game. Not quite the surprise, considering that the game had already been able to sell 3 million copies on its launch day.

"We're thrilled to announce that DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO has officially sold 5 million copies worldwide! A huge THANKS to our amazing fans for the epic journey. We truly appreciate your passion and dedication," read a post by Bandai Namco, shared through their official Dragon Ball Games account on X.

In an official statement, via a DeepL translation, Bandai Namco declared, "This title got off to a strong start, selling more than 3 million units worldwide within 24 hours of its release, and sales have continued to grow steadily through free updates and official tournaments since then, and have now surpassed 5 million units sold worldwide."

The company also tackles on the game's DLC, noting, "Most recently, we have been working to expand the contents of this title so that players can enjoy it even more, including the distribution of the 'Hero of Justice' pack, which provides additional downloadable contents."

"We will continue to deliver experiences that more and more fans can enjoy by exceeding the expectations of fans around the world with 'high-quality content that can be played long and deeply' and 'a variety of entertainment,'" the statement concluded.

As referenced by Bandai Namco, the first wave of downloadable content for Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO was announced and released late in January.

'Hero of Justice' — based on the 2022 animated movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero — includes 11 new playable characters, 1 exclusive costume, as well as 3 custom battles, with Bandai Namco teasing that DLC 2 and DLC 3 will include content featured in Dragon Ball Daima and Dragon Ball Legends, though release dates for the upcoming waves have yet to be revealed.

Taking the legendary gameplay of the Budokai Tenkaichi series and raising it to whole new levels. Unleash the fighting spirit within you and take the fight to arenas that crumble and react to your power as the battle rages on. Make yours the destructive power of the strongest fighters ever to appear in DRAGON BALL!

Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO is currently available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
