Gunvolt, The Azure Striker Himself, Will Be Joining Studio Saizensen's 2D Fighting Game BLADE STRANGERS

Blade Strangers is a classic 2D fighting game with animated sprites that looks, and seems to play in the same way of classic 2D fighting games from the 16 and 32-bit era like the Street Fighter Alpha series, Guilty Gear, and The King of Fighters, to name a few.

Developed by Studio Seizensen and published by Nicalis, Blade Strangers is a loveletter to classic 2D fighting games, where sprites look nicely animated, backgrounds are colourful and lively, and the roster has just got better now that they have officially announced that Azure Striker Gunvolt's main character Gunvolt is making an appearance as a guest character.

Gunvolt appeared for the first time in Azure Striker Gunvolt, back in 2014. The game is a spiritual successor, of sorts, to titles like Mega Man, Mega Man X, and Mega Man Zero. In fact, the game was developed by Inti Creates, which is a company formed by ex-Capcom eployees, formed in 1996, that have even teamed up with Capcom to develop some classic titles like the Mega Man Zero series, Mega Man Battle Chip (a Mega Man EXE spin-off ), and Mega Man 9.

With the announcement that Gunvolt will be joining the Blade Strangers roster, there's the possibility to see characters from other popular indie titles. Maybe a Shovel Knight appearance? Or perhaps Beck from Keiji Inafune's failed Mega Man spiritual successor, Mighty No.9? Whatever the case, hopefully Studio Seizensen keep this going and they announce more guest appearances in the coming weeks.

A malevolent force known only as Lina is devouring data from a vast, interdimensional network of servers overseen by sentient computers called ”motes.” In desperation, the motes summon heroes from a variety of parallel game worlds to face off against each other in one-on-one combat. The tournament victor has the potential to be awakened as the Blade Stranger—the savior who can vanquish Lina and protect the motes from further harm!

Blade Strangers hasn't been given an official release date but is expected to come out for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC this Summer.
