Bandai Namco's Tekken series has managed to sell an impressive 47 million copies since the first game was first released back in 1994 for Arcades and the Sony PlayStation.

The news comes from Katsuhiro Harada, Tekken series creator, who revealed this information on his verified Twitter account. He also announces that Tekken 7 was able to sell 3 million units within its first year since it launched. Tekken 7 was originally released in Japan in March of 2015, but it wouldn't see a worldwide release until June of 2017.

Harada also mentions that Tekken 7 selling 3 million units was not announced until now due to timing constraints, which also explains why the art he shared on his Twitter account doesn't include Anna Williams and Lei Wulong—who are DLC characters from the Season Pass 2 for Tekken 7.

The battle between father and son continues! The all consuming rage that drives Kazuya to destroy his father reaches it's climax. How does the saga end?

Tekken 7 is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam.
