With Battlefield 2042 revealed to the masses, EA is hoping to ignite some interest by making some of the older titles in the franchise available for free. Earlier this summer, Battlefield 4 was made available for free through Prime Gaming. Now, both Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V will be made available for Amazon Prime Members.
The Standard edition of Battlefield 1, which launched in 2016, is available for Prime Members on PC until August 4. The game is set during the period of World War I, taking players across multiple and varied locations inspired by real life. From the urban streets of a besieged French city to the open spaces in the Italian Alps to the deserts of Arabia, players can engage in a campaign-like "War Stories" or the signature multiplayer modes that the franchise is known for.
Battlefield V is the most recent installment in the franchise, having released in 2018. This game will be available from August 2 through October 1. Battlefield V is set during World War 2 and, again, features a campaign divided into "War Stories" along with an extensive multiplayer suite that includes Grand Operations (an expansion of the Operations mode), a Combined Arms co-op experience, Conquest and more.
Both of these games becoming free for Prime members is no coincidence. Battlefield 2042 is set to laucnh on October 22, 2021 for consoles and PC. EA is hosting a special showcase this week and is slated to reveal more about the upcoming game.
