The latest entry in the long-running Battlefield first-person shooter video game series, Battlefield 2042, launched for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC just days ago and already it's one of the worst reviewed games of all time — at least on Steam.

Battlefield 2042 has received more than 34,000 reviews (at the time of writing) over on, the video game distribution service developed by Valve, Steam. Check out the game's Steam page for yourself here. The service itself declares the grand summation of the reviews as "mostly negative," and the site Steam250, a review aggregator, has Battlefield 2042 placed in the "Hall of Shame." According to the site, Battlefield 2042 is the eighth worst-reviewed game of all time on Steam.

Said reviews call the game "a cash grab," "disrespectful," "unfinished," and many more choice words that EA and DICE are no stranger to after the release of Star Wars Battlefront II which received a similar reaction back in 2017.

Thankfully, the studio was able to pull things around in Star Wars Battlefront II's case, with players now claiming that it's a great game now. Here's hoping, DICE can pull it off again and repair the plethora of technical issues that are currently plaguing the latest Battlefield.
