Here Is Why BATTLEFIELD V Is Using Roman Numerals Instead Of Hindu-Arabic Like Previous Entries

There is actually a reason behind Battlefield V using Roman numerals instead of Hindu-Arabic numbers like they did in previous entries in the franchise, and it makes more sense than you would think.

Battlefield V is EA DICE's upcoming first-person shooter game that will be set in World War II—much like Battlefield 1 did back when it was released. This time the game will aim its focus on player customisation where players will be able to create more than one character with various cosmetic and weapons options—without losing what made the franchise popular, obviously.

While Battlefield V sounds like a Battlefield game through and through, there's an intertesting detail about that V in the title instead of a 5. The reason for it is that it's mainly alluding to a peace sign hand gesture that represents "V for Victory". The phrase was popularised by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill as he used it pretty much throughout the entirety of World War II amonsgt the allies.

This interesting detail came from the official Twitter account for Battlefield V when a user asked them why they kept using the peace sign when posting tweets about the game to which they replied by saying that they used it in a way to represewnt the "V for Victory" phrase, and also explaining that this is the reason for the V in the game's title.

Enter mankind’s greatest conflict with Battlefield V as the series goes back to its roots with a never-before-seen portrayal of World War 2. Assemble your Company of customized soldiers, weapons, and vehicles – then take them on an epic journey through the Tides of War. Experience the most intense, immersive Battlefield yet. You will never be the same.

Battlefield V is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows on the 19th of October.
