Call of Duty: WWII's second downloadable content pack,
The War Machine, rolled out today on PlayStation 4. As previously detailed, the new DLC pack contains three new multiplayer maps, an all-new War Mode mission, and a continuation of hte Nazi Zombies saga.
The War Machine's multiplayer maps will send players to North Africa on the
Egypt map where they'll fight in and aroundt he ancient pyramids at Gaza, and battle for an interior temple flanked by tight tunnels. They'll also travel to the French seaside city of
Dunkirk, a large, open, and dangerous beach area flanked by tight building interiors making sniping very effective. And lastly,
V-2 is a a small, fast-paced map set in a rocket development and test site located in rural Germany, featuring a launch tower in the center that provides an opportunity to grab an elevated sightline.
In addition to the new maps, the new War Mode -
Operation Husky - pits Allies versus the Axis War Machine in the invasion of Sicily.
Operation Husky introduces a brand new aerial dogfighting gameplay mechanic never before seen in a
Call of Duty game. Activision teases:
"Under the cover of darkness, gather and transmit intel on sensitive enemy ports and then – for the first time in Call of Duty: WWII Multiplayer – take to the skies in a fighter plane to protect bomber squadrons on their way to destroy the targets."
Lastly, Nazi Zombies will experience the next chapter in the co-operative saga -
The Shadow Throne.
Following Doktor Straub’s trail after narrowly escaping the zombie-infested island, the crew travels to a destroyed Berlin, Germany. Doktor Straub’s monstrous army is hellbent on purging his city of the Allied invaders. Players will join Marie, Drostan, Olivia, and Jefferson on their descent into madness in a city warped with terror, blood and war, as Nazi Zombies step out from the shadows of history.
Today's announcement was coincided with the release of a fresh batch of screenshots showcasing all of the new maps, modes, and gameplay features that arrive with
The War Machine.
Call of Duty: WWII's
The War Machine DLC Pack 2 is available now, first on PlayStation 4 for $14.99. It's also included with the
Call of Duty: WWII Season Pass which features all four DLC Packs planned for the year for $49.99. Xbox One and PC players can expect
The War Machine to arrive sometime in the near future, though Activision didn't mention a date.
