Far Cry 5 came out just over a month ago to very favourable reviews that praised gameplay and graphics alike. In fact, the game even became the biggest launch ever for Ubisoft by selling over $310 Million USD in its first week, which also made Far Cry 5 the fastest-selling title in the Far Cry franchise.

Today, Ubisoft has released a video featuring Creative Director Dan Hay, Technical Lead Stephen Mcauley and Produer Darryl Long, talking about adapting Far Cry 5 to PC and what exactly sets it apart from the console versions, as well as what motivated them to focus on the PC version a bit more.

Producer Darryl Long tells us that what he looks for in the game is a PC experience that is true to the roots of PC gaming.

"I grew up as a PC gamer and that's why I got into videogames in the first place, because I loved playing with the settings, I loved optimising the games for my rig and when I buy a game I want to make sure that I'm getting the best experience on my rig."

Creative Director Dan Hay agrees with this sentiment as he knows the franchise started on PC and knows how important it is for Far Cry fans that have been with them since the very beginning.

"What we want to be able to do is something that feels absolutely hyper realistic. Everything has to run at the right framerate and the experiences that you have, moment to moment, can't just feel like they are a digital escape. It has to feel like a real world. "

When talking about the gaming experience, Technical Lead Stephen Mcauley, he mentions that the game has to run at the highest framerate possible and the most stable framerate.

"As one of the best things of being a graphics programmer is how to get access to new features and to use them to the full advantage. With Far Cry 5 we've had the opportunity to develop lots of new technology in our new engine. That means that we can get better performance and that means the game will run at a faster and more stable framerate, which will be great for gamers."

Long mentions that PC gamers want to be able to tweak and benchmark, and make the best of their setup. "We as videogame developers need to give them the depth of tools and options and really creat a specialist built just for PC gamers."
