A comet debuted towards the end of season 3 of Epic Games' freemium, Battle Royale mode for Fortnite but spoilers about its purpose leaked well before the launch of season 4. It seems the studio's internal investigations have led them to believe that the leaks stemmed from a tester working on a 1099 contract. Specifically, Epic is alleging that Thomas Hannah told secrets to a third-party and posted the spoilers on Reddit.
The lawsuit was filed on May 7, with Epic claiming that the studio "suffered and is continuing to suffer irreparable injury" as a result of the leak.
In turn, Hannah has filed his defense, stating that it was the unnamed third-party and not himself who posted the spoilers on Reddit. Either way, most gamers believe that Hannah has shot himself in the foot by admitting that he broke his NDA, regardless of whether he made the actual Reddit post or not.
"Irreparable injury", as Epic states, seems a little excessive as Fortnite's popularity is stronger than ever.
