To celebrate last month's unexpected announcement of Metro Exodus’ new release date (February 15, 2019), Deep Silver released the game's full intro created by Elastic.tv, the award-winning makers of the opening credits of HBO's Game of Thrones and Westworld. This strikingly beautiful introduction to the upcoming game is set to an original score by acclaimed Metro series composer Alexey Omelchuk.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Elastic's creative director Andy Hall revealed what it meant to him to work on Metro: Exodus with Deep Silver and 4A Games. "We were initially approached to collaborate on the production by Deep Silver and 4A; being very familiar with the previous games in the series, it felt like a great opportunity for us to explore the narrative of this world in a unique way for the opening titles," Hall said. "The game has such a rich source of characters and events that acted as the perfect inspiration for us to make this title sequence. We hope the scene serves as a perfect segue into the immersive experience that is Metro Exodus."

When it comes to the usage of Omelchuk's symphonic score, "[Deep Silver] felt [it] would be a perfect companion to the visuals, and, in fact, it worked beautifully right from the start. Alexey created a subtle new arrangement to match it exactly to the picture, and I think the music does a perfect job of underpinning the tone we wanted to convey visually," the creative director concluded.

While the new release date is definitely good news for fans of the series, it doesn't change the fact that Exodus will still have to face other major February video game releases, such as Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, Overkill's The Walking Dead (console version), God Eater 3, Dead or Alive 6, Jump Force, Anthem, and DiRT Rally 2.0. The year is 2036. A quarter-century after nuclear war devastated the earth, a few thousand survivors still cling to existence beneath the ruins of Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro. They have struggled against the poisoned elements, fought mutated beasts and paranormal horrors, and suffered the flames of civil war. But now, as Artyom, you must flee the Metro and lead a band of Spartan Rangers on an incredible, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in search of a new life in the East. Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created.

Metro: Exodus will be releasing on February 15, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
