Metro: Exodus is one of the most promising games of this year. On paper, it has everything to please the gamers who enjoy fully developed single-player experiences. Unfortunately, developer 4A Games and THQ Nordic have officially announced that we won't visit the titular metro and the ruins of Moscow following a nuclear war this year, as Exodus has been pushed back to the first quarter of 2019.
"
We want everyone to experience the most ambitious Metro game to date at its absolute best. Therefore we've moved the release date to Q1 2019," 4A Games explained in a Tweet. This major delay makes a lot of sense as the game's producer, Jon Bloch said that "
Metro Exodus’ script is larger than both Metro 2033’s and Metro: Last Light’s scripts combined, including all DLC," in January.
The
Exodus team has also teased the game's appearance at this E3 as the developer will be "
revealing lots of new gameplay from a never before seen environment" next month.
Metro: Exodus was first shown at last year's Microsoft E3 conference, and caught the audience off-guard with its astonishing graphics. Hopefully, 4A Games will use that extra time to deliver a truly mesmerizing experience.
The year is 2036. A quarter-century after nuclear war devastated the earth, a few thousand survivors still cling to existence beneath the ruins of Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro. They have struggled against the poisoned elements, fought mutated beasts and paranormal horrors, and suffered the flames of civil war. But now, as Artyom, you must flee the Metro and lead a band of Spartan Rangers on an incredible, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in search of a new life in the East. Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created.
