Metro Exodus, partially inspired by Dmitry Glukhovsky's best-selling
Metro 2035 novel, will continue the story of Artyom and his odyssey to the East, that started back in 2010 in the
Metro 2033 video game and was continued in
Metro: Last Light. To reach the only safe place in
Metro universe – Vladivostok – Artyom and his wife Anna will travel by the heavily modified steam locomotive Aurora.
Yes, the series' main protagonist Artyom, his loved ones, and those who have managed to survive the nuclear holocaust will abandon the titular metro to embark on a dramatic and year-long journey, discovering the life beyond the dark Moscow Metro stations. During their grand expedition, the brave few will explore ruined cities, radioactive swarms, and even the dried up canyons of the Caspian Sea.
Speaking of the Caspian Sea shore, Ukraine developer 4A Games has released a bunch of brand new
Metro: Exodus screenshots, spotlighting the summer in the post-apocalyptic Russia. The images give us our best look yet and the rusted cargo ships and submarines litter the sand and the Munai-Bailer and a raider group led by a man known as "The Baron," who is controlling the region. Check it out below:
The year is 2036. A quarter-century after nuclear war devastated the earth, a few thousand survivors still cling to existence beneath the ruins of Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro. They have struggled against the poisoned elements, fought mutated beasts and paranormal horrors, and suffered the flames of civil war. But now, as Artyom, you must flee the Metro and lead a band of Spartan Rangers on an incredible, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in search of a new life in the East. Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created.
Metro: Exodus will be releasing on February 15, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
