When 4A Games officially announced
Metro: Exodus at Microsoft's E3 2017 media briefing, many fans of story-driven shooters fell in love with this post-apocalyptic world from the get-go. The developer's promise that
Exodus will be a more open game than the two previous installments, giving you a chance to experiment with its sandbox, also sounded like a welcome and pretty unexpected change.
Yes, main protagonist Artyom, his wife Anna, and those who survived the nuclear holocaust will abandon the titular metro to embark on a dramatic and year-long journey travelling by the heavily modified locomotive via the famous Trans-Siberian Railway. During their own odyssey to the east, the brave few will discover ruined cities, radioactive swarms, and even levels full of sand and mutants.
The biggest media outlets recently had a chance to check out
Exodus' latest build exploring the shore of the Caspian Sea. Considering that the first
Metro games were set during the never-ending winter, the fact that Artyom will finally experience the post-apocalyptic summer filled with sandstorms on a semi-regular basis and horrifying mutated monsters sounds like an awesome and fascinating addition.

The year is 2036. A quarter-century after nuclear war devastated the earth, a few thousand survivors still cling to existence beneath the ruins of Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro. They have struggled against the poisoned elements, fought mutated beasts and paranormal horrors, and suffered the flames of civil war. But now, as Artyom, you must flee the Metro and lead a band of Spartan Rangers on an incredible, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in search of a new life in the East. Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created.
Metro: Exodus will be releasing on February 15, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
