Last week, a whole lot of information pertaining to the next installment in the Far Cry video game series leaked online via the PlayStation Store — find out more about that here. Ubisoft promptly responded to the leak with a teaser which confirmed that Far Cry 6 would be officially revealed during their then-upcoming digital conference. And, what do you know, here we are.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to see Far Cry 6 gameplay or anything like that during Ubisoft Forward — though, they did show off Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs: Legion gameplay. Instead, the Far Cry 6 announcement segment featured a colorful intro sequence and an awesome cinematic trailer.
This cinematic trailer introduces us to Giancarlo Esposito's character, Anton Castillo, as well as his apparent son, Diego. What's more, we're also introduced to the tropical paradise that is Yara. Anton is the dictator of Yara and intent on restoring the nation to its former glory. Diego is set to follow in his bloody footsteps.
We already knew this thanks to the aforementioned leak but, regardless, Ubisoft also revealed the release date. Far Cry 6 comes to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Google Stadia, and PC on February 18th, 2021. You can check out the intro sequence and cinematic trailer for yourself below (via Ubisoft North America):
