Winter has arrived in
Fortnite. Season 7 of the battle royale game has kicked off with the massive iceberg that has been floating off the island’s coast finally striking ground.
The iceberg colliding with the edge of the map has now turned a large section of it into ice and snow. On certain icy surfaces, players are able to slide; but Season 7 brings more than just the snow and ice biome. There are big changes to the map, including new areas such as Frosty Flights, Polar Peak, and Happy Hamlet. It didn’t come without some losses though, as we say goodbye to Greasy Grove.
In addition to the map changes, Season 7 introduces the new X-4 Stormwing Plane. This new vehicle seats a total of four players - four passengers on the wings and a pilot. The plane has a mounted machine gun that can overheat and players are able to jump into skydiving when exiting the X-4 Stormwing.
Epic also sent some items to the vault. With a goal “to have a reasonable number of items to learn, while avoiding duplicates or overlapping functionality,” Epic did away with the following weapons and items: Shadow Stones, Port-a-Fort, Chiller, Clinger, Double Battle Shotgun, and the Shockwave Grenade.
The new season celebrates the holidays with a festive Battle Pass filled with 100 tiers of wintery rewards. Available for 950 V-Bucks, the Battle Pass will immediately unlock the Zenith and Lynx progressive outfits, both of which can be leveled up to unlock new styles as you earn experience.
Like the two seasons before, Season 7 also introduces a new type of cosmetic rewards: Wraps. These are essentially weapon and vehicle cosmetic skins. Of course, the Battle Pass also introduces new pets (Season 6) and toys (Season 5). Check out the overview trailer highlighting

And finally, Season 7 brings a third game mode in the form of Creative mode. As previously revealed, this is a creative, sandbox mode that allows you to create your own island, filled with custom structures, mini-games, and your own rule-set. Battle Pass owners will have early access to their own Creative island for one week, with all players receiving islands on December 13.
Epic Games also announced they will be taking a holiday break this winter, though they will still release updates with new items and challenges. However, due to the holidays, Season 7 will be extended by two weeks and will instead end on February 28. You can check out the full patch notes for
