What would a game featuring all of Nickelodon's iconic characters brawling with each other be without the iconic Nicktoons duo of Ren & Stimpy? Well, today, developer Ludosity has confirmed that the characters will be featured in the upcoming platform fighter Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.

The two characters will play as a single, join character in the game, similar to Ice Climbers, Duck Hunt, and Banjo & Kazooie in Nintendo Super Smash Bros. In doing so, they will feature "some very special move sand playstyles."

“They have a knack for using each other as weapons, which really helps the slapstick comedy of the show come to life," said Matías R Singer, Game Designer at Fair Play Labs, co-developer of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.

In the game, Ren rides on Stimpy's shoulders. Although this makes them one of the slower, heavier characters in the game, they are able to often attack in multiple directions together. Ren deals lower initial damage, followed by Stimpy's delayed but higher damage.

Fans of the Ren & Stimpy will immediately recognize some of the their moves which have been inspired by episodes of the show.

“The Log from the Blammo advertisement is so iconic we couldn’t conceive not including it as a Special move," said Joel Nyström, project manager at Ludosity. "The ‘Happy Happy Joy Joy’ song was likewise used as a reference for the Strong Up Air.”

Although Ren & Stimpy may look like a complicated fighter, Ludosity assures their wide range of attacks "makes it easier to land hits on opponents without having to reposition." In that sense, Ren & Stimpy could be a character to use for new players.

Ren & Stimpy aren't the only classic characters from the show appearing in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. Powered Toast Man has also been confirmed. Other characters confirmed for the roster include Michelangelo (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Leonardo (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Nigel Thornberry (The Wild Thornberrys), SpongeBob SquarePants (SpongeBob SquarePants), Sandy Cheeks (SpongeBob SquarePants), Patrick Star (SpongeBob SquarePants), Oblina (Aaahh!!! Real Monsters), Lucy Loud (The Loud House), Lincoln Loud (The Loud House), Helga (Hey Arnold!), Reptar (Rugrats), Zim (Invader Zim), and Danny Phantom (Danny Phantom). CatDog and April O'Neil were also recently confirmed.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is set to release this Fall 2021 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
