Microsoft and Mojang have announced today that Minecraft has already managed to sell a very impressive 176 million units worldwide; probably making it the best-selling game ever, if we go by unit sales since its release on the 17th of May in 2009.

According to Games Industry, the PC version of Minecraft alone had been able to sell a very solid 30 million units since its original release, not to mention that the game is currently available for pretty much every platform out there.

Minecraft's free Chinese release already has a staggering 200 million registered users. While these numbers don't affect the game's lifetime sales, it goes to show the reach the series has.

Microsoft has also announced that they are working on an augmented reality title called Minecraft Earth, which seeks to expand the series' reach in similar Pokémon GO fashion, so Minecraft fans should rest assure that the series isn't going anywhere, any time soon.
