MINECRAFT: The Upcoming "Village & Pillage" Update Will Refurbish Villages, Add Crossbows, & A Ton Of New Mobs

Minecon Earth 2018 saw Mojang announce an upcoming update for Minecraft titled "Village and Pillage" which remodels villages, introduces a ton of new mobs, and adds a new weapon. Hit the jump to find out more..

While the most prominent news to come out of Minecon Earth 2018 was arguably the upcoming spinoff game Minecraft Dungeons, it wasn't all Mojang had to offer.

The game studio also announced a ton of information regarding a coming update - named "Village and Pillage".
The update will drastically remodel villages to be more fitting to their respective biomes as well as redesign its residents - as you can see in the image above. Not only are the old and faithful villagers getting a makeover but some new ones are to be introduced like the librarian and butcher.

However, that's only the former part of the update's title. Pillagers will be introduced - they're basically evil villagers - and, in groups, they will attempt to ransack villages - it's up to you to stop them. You'll have to go up against their weaponary, the new crossbow (which you can also craft for yourself), as well as their frightening pet known only as "The Beast".

Oh, and pandas. They're also being added along with their typical snack: Bamboo.
