Despite its undeniable potential, ambition, and name,
The Elder Scrolls: Online haven't managed to become a massive hit. The title that was supposed to compete with
World of Warcraft, transitioned to a buy-to-play model with microtransactions and an optional subscription in March 2015. The fact that the MMO had been in development for 7 years before its release in 2014 probably didn't help.
ZeniMax Online Studios is seemingly ready to move on and is already developing a brand new title. The studio is currently hiring and looking for Core Tech Programmer who will help the team develop core engine components that will power a brand new intellectual property (or IP), which means that we should forget about
TES: Online 2, as this title won't be connected to any existing brand or series.
Just like ZeniMax Online Studios' first (and so far, last) game, the new IP is heading to PC and consoles, probably the next-gen ones as the eight generation will probably end in the next 2-3 years. This wanted employee has to have "
MMO development experience," so we may be talking about a title similar to
Tom Clancy's The Division or
Destiny. You can always check out their last effort,
The Elder Scrolls: Online, right now, as the subscription is no longer needed to play the MMORPG since March 17, 2015.
